Design Philosophy

I like to work together with my clients to create places that are joyous, nourishing and inspiring to be in; creating exciting combinations of plants that can refresh the spirit and spark the senses. I believe that the development of a garden is a collaborative process. This extends to my design approach and I am committed to developing a vision that clients share and believe in.

The idea of a genius loci or ‘sense of place’ is something I like to consider in the development of a garden design. I believe in creating gardens that reflect the landscape around them and that are sensitive to their local environment.

I am also committed to designing gardens responsibly – using local materials where possible and selecting plants that are suited to the environment that they are planted in. Don’t let this scare you off – this doesn’t mean that they can’t be beautiful and fun as well!

Please read the following pdf that outlines my design process.
